Hands and an old vine

The generations

The generations
Our family's food culture began in 1881 with our great-great-grandfather Pino Lento and continued with our great-grandfather Pino. Ciccio, who made the wine, and Carmela, who cooked for those who made it, are part of this story too. Today our grandfather Walter makes the wine with his brothers. Those who come next are already among the vines.

Our family's food culture, Pino Lento

Our family's food culture began in 1881 with our great-great-grandfather Pino Lento. He planted the family's first vines.
The first vines

His name came back in his grandson, another Giuseppe: Don Pino. His vineyards are the ones the family still works today, and it is through him that the family's wine goes back more than a hundred years.

The cellar

Ciccio Lento (1906-1991) and Carmela

Ciccio looked after the winemaking. Carmela cooked for those who worked the vineyard, and for the guests.
Tools of the craft in the cellar

It was with them that Don Pino learned the craft, at twelve. Ciccio and his son worked side by side all their lives.

The name

Giuseppe Lento, known in the village as Don Pino, and Grazia Tarsitano

Our great-grandfather Pino bore the same name as our great-great-grandfather. He started in the vineyard at twelve and gave the family wine its character. Grazia was at his side from 1959.

The free-run wine, the skins for the grappa, the harvest celebration: the method we follow today is his. In 2022 Grazia was still in the vineyard.

Today

Francesco, Gianpiero, Walter and Roberto Lento

The sons of Pino and Grazia. They make their father's wine together, as he made it with his own father. Gianpiero is the winemaker. The red bears Walter's name.

Those who come next

The next generation is already in the vineyard.
The craft learned by hand

They learn the way everyone in the family learned: beside those who came before, in the vineyard and at the harvest.
